1 Killed in Highway 73 Car Crash in Irvine near Newport Beach
Irvine, California (June 16, 2021) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Tuesday afternoon in Irvine, near the border with Newport Beach, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At about 3:55 p.m. on June 15, the CHP was notified of a two-vehicle collision on State Route 73 near Jamboree Road.
The officers determined that a white BMW 540i was traveling on the roadway when it collided with a second vehicle. The impact of the collision caused the second vehicle to roll over.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased, however, was withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
No other injuries were reported.
Both directions of the 73 toll road and the transition from the southbound 55 Freeway to the southbound 73 toll road were temporarily closed.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
