Redding, California (August 19, 2022) – A driver was killed Thursday afternoon head-on collision in Redding, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal accident occurred on Highway 299 near Kennedy Memorial Drive and Whiskeytown National Recreation at around 12:30 p.m.

CHP said a semi-truck and a Ford Explorer collided head-on for reasons still under investigation.

The semi burst into flames after the crash and sparked a vegetation fire that spread to about 35 acres.

The driver of the Ford was killed in the incident.

The semi-truck driver sustained unspecified injuries.

More details about the crash were not provided.
