1 Dead, 4 Hospitalized after Head-On Collision on State Route 84 near Highway 680 in Sunol
Sunol, California (September 5, 2021) – A person was killed and four others were seriously injured in a head-on collision that happened on Sunday morning in Sunol.
The California Highway Patrol said the fatal accident was reported shortly after 6:00 a.m. on State Route 84, near Interstate Highway 680.
A white Chevrolet Tahoe reportedly collided head-on with a black Dodge Charger for unknown reasons, the police said.
The Dodge driver and their three passengers, among them a child, suffered severe injuries in the crash and were rushed to a hospital.
Sadly, the child succumbed to their injuries.
The Chevrolet driver also suffered major injuries and was taken to hospital.
CHP closed SR-84 in both directions for about three hours to allow for an on-scene investigation.
Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
