Kevin Atteberry Arrested after Fatal Palm Springs Car Accident at Sunrise Way and East Canyon Drive
Palm Springs, California (August 1, 2022) – Kevin Atteberry, 57, of Los Angeles, was placed under arrest following a DUI crash that left one person dead and another seriously injured in Palm Springs on Saturday night.
The Palm Springs Police Department said the accident was reported at around 9:07 p.m. at the intersection of Sunrise Way and East Palm Canyon Drive.
Atteberry was driving a car southbound of Sunrise Way when he slammed into the back of another vehicle that had stopped at the intersection.
The driver of the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger sustained major injuries.
Atteberry also suffered severe injuries.
Both patients were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Two other vehicles were involved, but no occupant was injured.
Atteberry was found to have been driving under the influence and involved in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Ramon Road and Sunrise Way.
Atteberry had a prior DUI conviction and will be arrested and booked on suspicion of murder once released from the hospital.
No additional details about the crash were provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
