1 Killed and 1 Injured in University Heights Car Crash on Texas Street near Monroe Avenue
San Diego, California (May 21, 2021) – A man was killed in a head-on collision involving an MTS bus in the University Heights area of San Diego on Thursday evening.
The deadly collision happened in the 4500 block of Texas Street near Monroe Avenue at about 6 p.m. May 20, according to the San Diego Police Department.
A 60-year-old man was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on the highway when, for unknown reasons, he drifted into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a southbound MTS bus.
The man, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, was transported to an area hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
A 59-year-old female passenger in the bus sustained a minor head injury in the crash and was taken to a local hospital.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
