Bakersfield, California (March 17, 2022) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a Bakersfield car accident that left one person hospitalized early Thursday morning.

A black Honda Accord and a big rig were involved in the 3:41 a.m. crash.

Bakersfield police, firefighters, and paramedics responded to E Pacheco Road and Cottonwood Road, where the accident occurred.

Investigators said the Honda crashed into the back of the semi that was stopped on eastbound Pacheco waiting to make a turn onto Cottonwood. Both vehicles were blocking the roadway after the collision.

The paramedics transported one person who sustained possible major injuries to Kern Medical Center.

The Honda was towed away from the scene.

Traffic flow in the area was affected due to a closure of eastbound Pacheco following the accident.
