Andy Reidd, the coach of Chiefs mentioned that his son Britt underwent a surgery in a virtual news conference on Monday.
Britt Reid is the outside linebackers coach for the Chiefs. He was in his eighth season with the team when he got injured on a Thursday night at 9 p.m. the truck he drove struck two vehicles that were stopped on the ramp of the Stadium Drive to Interstate 435.
After the crash Britt mentioned about having a stomach ache to the Kansas City, Missouri police. The crash left a 5 year old in critical condition with a brain injury and another 4 year old who was injured.
Andy Reid showed his concerns for the 5-year-old girl at a conference on Monday. He said that “That little girl, my heart goes out to her”
According to the search application from KCPD, Britt had admitted that he had had two or three drinks before the crash.
There have no charges been filed in connection with the case and the case still remains under investigation.
Andy mentions that Britt is getting better now.
Andy was asked whether he had gotten a chance to speak to him, to which he honestly replied, “I’ve had a chance to talk to him. Again, my heart goes out to that young lady. I’m also a dad, so I get that. I have concerns obviously on both sides.”
Britt Reid did not travel to Tampa, Florida where the Super Bowl LV was held. The Chiefs lost 31-9 in the match on Sunday. Andy Reid assured that his son’s condition had nowhere impacted the preparations for the game.
KCPD in its latest update mentions that the investigation may take weeks which is typical for such traffic investigations. The 5-year-olds family is identified as Ariel. She is yet in critical condition at a local hospital. A GoFundMe has raised more than $325,000 as of Monday afternoon.
